Pony Express National Museum
The Pony Express National Museum occupies the original 1858 Patee House stables where the legendary mail route launched on April 3, 1860 — the very building where the first rider, Johnny Fry, set off westward. The museum walks visitors through the 18-month history of the Pony Express with artifacts, life-size dioramas, and interactive exhibits that make the frontier come alive for all ages. It's one of the most visited historic sites in northwest Missouri and a natural anchor for school field trips and heritage tours.
Bus drop-off uses the Penn Street frontage; confirm current group access with the museum at (816) 279-5059.
